MLK 6th Graders Explore Electrical Circuits in STEM Class

Sixth-grade students at MLK Elementary School have been diving into the world of electrical circuits in STEM class. Early lessons focused on understanding open and closed circuits, as well as conductive and nonconductive materials.

This week, students got hands-on experience using Makey-Makey kits to complete circuits. They experimented by playing a piano and an electronic Etch-a-Sketch on the computer, exploring how input and output work in technology. Along the way, students also learned about careers and educational paths related to electrical work.

Next week, students will begin coding in Scratch to bring their own Makey-Makey creations to life. MLK is proud to help students become college- and career-ready by combining research in the library with interactive learning in STEM class, showing how these skills connect to future education and careers.
