Rome, NY
As part of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, Proctor students visited the Fort Rickey Discovery Zoo in Rome, NY, for a career exploration opportunity in the animal science field. Students had access to several learning opportunities having to do with Zoology, Veterinary, and Veterinary Technician professions. The staff gave presentations on various animals and their characteristics. Throughout the day, the students learned how to feed and care for the animals, how the animals survive in nature, and were able to ask questions. The zoo staff was involved, engaged, and interacted with students throughout the day.
